Prof. Dr. Zielen

Prof. Dr. med. Zielen
Dear parents, dear patients, dear visitors,
After several decades of clinical work at various universities (Bonn) and research institutes (DKFZ Heidelberg), most recently as Professor and Chief Physician for Allergology and Pneumology at the Children's Hospital of Goethe University, I would like to welcome you to my private allergology-pneumology practice for children, adolescents and adults.
It is important to me to find sufficient time during the consultation for a thorough examination and a personal discussion of all questions and concerns associated with the disease. I am happy to offer you my advice and look forward to seeing you!
Introduction
Prof. Dr. med. Stefan Zielen is an expert in respiratory and allergy diseases at the Institute for Respiratory Diseases “Medaimun”.
For over 22 years, he led the Allergology, Pulmonology, and Cystic Fibrosis department at the Children’s and Adolescent’s Clinic of the University Hospital Frankfurt. With more than 300 published scientific articles on PubMed, he is recognized as a specialist in asthma, rare lung diseases, and allergies. He treats both children and adolescents, as well as adults who are privately insured or self-paying.
Diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases
The Medaimun Institute offers comprehensive diagnostics and treatment for acute and chronic lung diseases in patients of all ages. Prof. Zielen and his team provide care for patients and their families based on the latest scientific findings. In collaboration with a specialized laboratory, various tests are conducted to clarify immune processes and allergies.
Hyposensitization specialist
Prof. Zielen specializes in the treatment of asthma, rare lung diseases, and allergies such as hay fever, insect stings, and peanut allergies. He is a leading expert in hyposensitization, including short-term and rush immunotherapy, as well as sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT).
Asthma treatment in Frankfurt
Bronchial asthma is a chronic inflammation of the airways that leads to sudden narrowing of the airways due to mucus production and muscle spasms. Allergies or infections are often the triggers. Treatment is interdisciplinary, involving doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, physiotherapists, nutritionists, social workers, and psychologists to ensure the best possible care.
Expert in the treatment of ataxia telangiectasia
Ataxia Telangiectasia (A-T; OMIM 208900), also known as Louis-Bar syndrome, is a genetic disease with mutations in the ATM gene, which is crucial for numerous immunological, hematopoietic and hormonal processes. Malfunctions of this gene lead to neurological disorders, immunodeficiency, increased susceptibility to cancer and chronic lung problems. Thanks to the experience of Prof. Zielen and his team, the best possible care can be provided to improve the prognosis of affected children.
